An idea is forming - let's have a build-off and see who can build the most badass tater chunker! Maybe form local teams with people close to you, work out the design and testing, then somehow we find a place for a shootout (downrange, not at each other... yet). It would be cool if we could find a few acres and maybe an old junk car as a target for the team competition. So, whaddaya think?

I'm down. I'll make it a neighborhood project.

Need some rules and a complete by date.

also, keep in mind that combustion spud guns are considered firearms in Texas so don't get yourself in trouble.

    Hmm... rules?

    - Bore size no greater than (?) in/mm
    - No trailer or truck-mounted artillery
    - Safety blankets around pressure chamber(s) a must
    - pneumatic only (per your point about legal restrictions for combustion devices)

Make it a winter project - ready sometime in the spring. That's all I got... more ideas?

I'll think on it over night. I'm not a big fan of rules so the ones we do have should be there to keep everyone safe and legal only.

spring intro would be great. I'll post more in the morning.

Pneumatic are cooler anyway. I started making one that looked like a Howitzer once

Depending on the rules I may or may not be in. There is a possibility we could shoot them at my place though if people wanted to make the drive. We'll just have to see I guess.

Really? I did not know that. Glad my brother, my neighbors and I didn't get in trouble for that growing up. We used to build them and shoot them up and down the street in the middle of Bellaire (a small town just south of the Galleria in Houston).
