There was a time when that was a normal perk for college profs. Everybody knew it. Everybody went in with their eyes open. It was always optional for the student. The world didn't end.

Can’t speak for today, but that was my experience in the early-mid ‘90s. More than a few girls I knew tested the waters and one ended up with an MRS that way.
