FYI if you didn't already know, the barrel spring and plunger are a pain in the ass to install unless you use a shim with a short straight notch cut into it to make sure the blade of the plunger lines up with the ribs of the lock ring while you are putting it together.
Thanks for the tip...........that is probably the exact reason the spring and plunger were missing......

    +1

I've accidentally unscrewed that locking ring just a bit too much on more than one occasion (no, I didn't learn my lesson the first time) - my wife can attest to the cussing that followed...

Spoke to some folks and these will fit model II Belgium guns and I ordered a grade 1 set...

Hoping to have this project done by mid June....giving it to my favorite daughter in law (only DIL) as a BD gift....
    That's good to know!

Have you found anything showing the differences between models (Auto-22 vs Buckmark vs BAR22)? I've found different forums that discuss it, but they mostly contradict each other.

No. I haven't ran across any of that information.

Currently working on the top of the receiver to get as much of the pitting removed as I can without affecting the dovetail rail.......and working on the artwork for the receiver engraving....

What exactly are you asking? They are all Browning semi-auto 22's but that's about all they have in common.
1.SA-22 is fed through buttstock and is bottom eject.
2.Buckmark is magazine fed and side eject. (and a pistol unless you count the discontinued carbine version).
3.BAR22 is fed from a magazine tube mounted under the barrel and is also side eject (and was only made from 1977-1985).

So....plans change....I was going to use this SA22 as a shooter for me......but then the wife told me, our DIL told her she will miss getting guns for her BD every year since we sold the shop. That's when I decided to give it to her as I previously posted. I was going to have the receiver color case hardened, but it wouldn't be back in time her BD.......so I will blue it.....

Did the engraving this evening her first initial is G so we went with that......will start the bluing process in the next day or so...........and yes, I added the serial number to the receiver since it was only on the barrel..........
