A person on another message board mentioned an interest in firearm ownership, but hasn't ever fired a gun himself. I'm just wondering if someone knows of a good helpful range around there that would instruct him a bit and get him safe and knowledgeable enough about firearms to make a purchase. Outdoor would be ideal but not required.

    Thanks.

Hmm. There is the Shooting Gallery/Winchester Gallery at Lancaster/820 in Fort Worth. I have not shot there, but the Cross Timbers IDPA group shoots there on Thursday nights. I shoot at Lone Star Guns Gallery and Gear in Weatherford which may be a bit far from Arlington.
I've heard some good things about the Shoot Smart range north of Fort Worth (near Cabela's).
I've also shot at DFW Gun Range in Dallas (Mockingbird off of 35) and the people there seem pretty knowledgeable.
