Hello everyone South of the Red River, I have a quick question regarding your state law. I have my OC/CC permit from Oklahoma and I am traveling to Houston to visit my brother. My wife was stopped by Hwy patrol for a light issue with tags (another story) and I'm in back seat. Should I have notified the LEO of my weapon? I didn't because I was unclear of the state law with regards to carrying in auto. Thanks for any responses.

You were not obligated. If the trooper had questioned you at all or asked for your ID then yes but if you were just a passenger and the troopers interaction was with the driver only then you were under no obligation to tell the trooper you were carrying.

Also, carry in a vehicle is legal even without a CHL in Texas.
