It was a great meet and range day...we need to make this a 3 or 4 time a year thing. I had a great time meeting fellow 1911 lovers, and turned on a couple of folks to the beauty of the Browning High Power. Best part was meeting the folks behind the screen names...all gun freaks in good standing! Thanks to Robert for setting this one up.

It was nice to put a face to a name(except Greg....I know his mug from the post office :) )
Dietz range is probably convenient for most folks but I think we'd have a little more fun if we plan one at a different range next time.

    Gunz are icky.
BOTW? Little pricier but the facilities are nicer and have more to offer (i.e. tac bays and 1000 yd rifle range)

    That sounds interesting.
    I've never been there.
Are they pretty cool about rapid fire, large groups shooting together, etc?
    Or range Nazi's?

Pretty much anything goes in the tac bays....that's why I like it! Only rules that suck in the bays is rifle are limited to 5.56 so AKs would have to use the actual rifle range!

The ROs on the pistol and rifle ranges aren't too bad in my experience!

How does one pay there? Flat fee for all day? Per gun? Hourly?
What are the distances in the "Tac bays"?
We set our own targets? Or range people do that?

Payment is dependent on what you want to do. Rifle range, pistol, tac bay each have their own price (I don't remember em all off hand)! Ranges are all day, Tac bays are for 2 hours but I've never had them actually enforce that and if we set up with them we could probably work out having the bay for longer with no issue!

Tac bays range from 30-80ish yds I believe and each has two little target stands that they put one target on. Bringing your own targets (steel, etc.) Is allowed and encouraged!

There is a great little restaurant down the road in liberty hill called dahlia cafe who has great lunch and breakfast! Unfortunately they are closed Sundays so we would have to do saturday to have the food option! There are plenty of food options in cedar park and Leander down the road though as well!

Never been there myself but I've good things about BOTW. I've been wanting to qualify for the 1K yard range.
Another option would be Bexar community range. At least they allow you to shoot pistol caliber SBRs on the handgun range.
