    Hello:
    Im currently in the military and I would like to take my wife to shoot. However Im not looking forward o drive 70 miles to do it. I have heard about some ranges but Im really looking forward to one where she is not going to get bored and they also rent weapons, ammunition and targets since I dont have any of that. I would also really appreciate any recommendations. I'm interesting in shooting the Ar

    I dont know of a Range close to Hood that rents Rifles. You are probably going to have to travel. There are several ranges within a 30 minute drive though, google them and call about rifle rentals. They all let you shoot rifle though so maybe borrow a buddies.

    If your wife isn't into shooting and/or outdoors a range trip will get old fast regardless where you go.

    I have been to Texas Star Shooting range.

    1. Make sure you have your gps the first time you go in.
    2. They do rent weapons. The range is ok...just doesn't have the "it" factor for me.


    Hicksville up in Gatesville has weapons for rent. Its pretty nice up there and has a whole lot of options target-wise and range wise. It CAN be tricky to find, but not nearly as bad as Texas Star. If you're decent with a map, Hicksville is easy. If not....take a GPS lol
