A few weeks ago, I accidentally picked up another 500, 200gr RNFP lead bullets from a buddy of mine. I meant to get some 200gr SWCs but decided to keep em' anyways. Anyhow, I wanted to see if any reloaders out there have ever reloaded some RNFP bullets for the ACP ? I know you can definitely go the other way with no problem(acp swcs/rn in colt loads)so I'm thinking its ok. The bullets are sized .452 hardcast RNFPs.

Load up a few and make sure they feed properly. Everything else about them is fine.

I've used them. They work just fine. Just be sure and not roll crimp them like you would for the .45 Colt cartridge. They have a pretty substantial crimp groove and utilizing it could cause headspace problems. When I loaded some for my 1911A1 I just taper crimped them like I do for SWCs.

+1 and you may want to set the OAL just a little longer so the edge of the flat noise is on the shoulder and not the flat when it feed up the ramp.

I use Berrys RNFP 185 grain with an OAL of 1.23 and they feed fine through my Colt Defender.

Been reloading 200 gr. rnfp for quite a while now. I load them shorter than some of the other guys do, but no problems so far.

2 trips to the range later and my 1911 is loving these bullets. I load them to a C.O.L. of 1.185 and they feed flawlessly. Of course the combination of Unique powder(5.4gr) and lead bullets make for a bit of smoke but the low recoil and excellent accuracy are worth it. Hey Res, what kind of powder do you use to push those bullets downrange ?

I have, with the help of a guy at Alliant Powder, been experimenting with American Select. Sorry, I've had a brain fart, and I cannot give you the amount I have been using, but I have been doing some chrony work with it, and I have been getting about 825 FPS with it, with something less than 5gr. My length is about the same as yours. I have been getting the bullets from Two Alpha bullet co., I have checked the weight on these and they are remarkably uniform at 200 gr.
