I think you will like it ... I do mine.
Its whisper quiet shooting 220g subs through a YHM Phantom

I didn't care for the Hogue stock, though. Found a Boyds walnut stock at a gun show and gave it that "vintage" look.

I kept my SPS in .308 factory stock condition. It has the long, heavy barrel and can shoot sub 1 minute groups at 200 yards (.75 minute). It was worth every penny and I won't change a thing on it.

Thanks for the info guys. I ordered a Leupold VX-R 4-12x40 scope for it today as well. Heard that the each 700 prefers certain ammo. So I order 20rds each of; Winchester Super-X Power Max Bonded in 150gr & 180gr, Remington Express Core-Lokt 150gr & 180gr and lastly, Winchester Outdoor Fund Super-X in 150gr. Was going to get some Federal Gold Match in 175gr but it's backordered.

With you getting your NFA goodies, I recommend you picking up some reloading tools. Subs out of a bolt gun are a lot of fun and with that 10 twist you ought to be able to get away with 200+gr pills.

Id consider picking up a take off HS precision stock for it. The Hogue is pretty weak and rubbery. The hs precision stock inletted for some DBM makes a great cost effective stock. Make sure you check the thread concentricity as some of the factory Remington threading is pretty terrible.

Cant wait to hear your thoughts on the Crux can.

^^ Thanks for the info. I honestly picked it up because it's my first even bolt action and want to try something new/different from all the CQ/Tactical shooting I do/done. Plus I'm seriously considering hog hunting. Never hunted before and seem like it's a good time. I'm sure my Daniel Defense V9LW (5.56) is more than capable of hog hunting but a .308 in a bolt action has to be more fun. (At least that's what I'm telling myself for justification of purchase.) LOL!!!

If youre stand hunting a bolt action is fine but if you ever plan to get down on their level I highly recommend an AR and one with some more ass behind it than a 10" 223. My main hog gun is a 12.5" 6.8. A charging wounded big boar is not something to mess with and youll want fast followup shots that will put him down quick.

You chose a good bolt gun for your first. Its very versatile and theres a huge aftermarket for it. When/if you decide to sell it, it should be easy as many people like the short 16" 308s. If you decide to stretch it out to long distances youll probably find the 155gr pills work better as you can get them going faster to overcome the ballistic advantage the 175/178s have and they'll be flatter shooting.

Oh yeah I plan on stand hunting. LOL I've never hunted before so I don't want to jump in with the heavy weights first fight.

I went with the 16" barrel because I didn't want 26" to worry about when I add the suppressor. From what a buddy is saying I should had zero issue getting good groups at 500-600yds. I think that is a good start for me. Plus there is only one range I can think of in the Houston area that even has those distances, American Shooting Center.

Yeah 16" 308 does fine at 600, much further than that and youll be handicapped but its a solid platform to start out on and the upgrades are only limited to your pocket book.

Go figure one box of ammo arrives first. LOL Actually the rifle arrived at the FFL and I left a msg to schedule a time to pick up last night. Hopefully I hear back from him today.

180gr is a beast, man I love .308. After I bought my M1A many years ago I have never loved another caliber as much....well maybe my 45-70 Marlin
