No guilt what so ever , for slavery. Didn't own a damn one, nor did any ancestors.
So, those of you that have piled onto this train of thought, IF your ancestors did own slaves, would you feel guilty?

Personally, I wouldn’t. Different time, different way of thinking. You have to remember that African slaves were seen as property, not as humans. Also, remember that the "Great Emancipator" wasn't totally against slavery. He was willing to do whatever it took to keep the union together, including allowing slavery. Last, but not least, not all slaves were of African decent. There were plenty of Chinese, Irish, etc. that can be lumped in... working against their will.

Is owning another human being wrong? Absolutely. However, I won't be feeling guilty for what my ancestors, or just those of my same skin color, may or may not have done. Judge me on my actions, and my actions alone.

    1. Slavery has been an unpleasant fact of life since time immemorial - people from any tribe you care to name have been slaves; black Africans aren't the only ones.
    2. African tribes sold the conquered/captured members of other tribes to mostly Arab slavers - so black hands aren't clean either.
    3. Whites were bought and sold in the tens of thousands on the Barbary Coast, North Africa - so black hands aren't clean here, either.
    4. Whites were the ones who put an end to slavery, at least in white society, starting around 1772 in Britain and slowly becoming a trend.
    5. Slavery is still practiced by Muslims.

No, I don't owe anyone an apology, I don't owe anyone shit just because my skin is white. Your ancestors were slaves? Get the **** over it, because mine were too.

^ for people that may not know - Dearborn Michigan is home to the largest concentration of Muslims in the state, possibly on American soil (it's one of the two, I can't remember which). There's a reason we call it Dearbornistan.... >.>

Will we see it? Un-fucking-doubtedly. There's been a fair bit of outrage over some Muslims outright -demanding- that Dearborn and other county schools stop giving out Christmas-themed assignments, claiming it's "offensive" to their faith. Only a matter of time before people start taking to the streets over it.

I am increasingly seeing that nationalism will respond to libertarianism as well.
Eh, maybe... Nationalism tends to be an irrational loyalty based more on emotion than fact. Sort of like rooting for your local sports team because "We're number one!!!"

That's not to mean nationalism can't be rational... If people said "I love the USA because we supposedly have a constitutionally limited federalist republic," that could be nationalism based on fact, but most of the time nationalism is based on myth or emotional connection.

    Certainly.

I saw a facebook question to libertarians the other day.

Would you be in support of repealing all immigration laws if you knew socialists would move in and end any libertarianism?

The way that question is loaded shows that immigration problems are not an issue unto themselves, but a symptom of an already broken government.

Either a mental exercise or a trap to debunk libertarianism I suppose.

Glad to see some of the principles of classical libertarian thought and not just the new populist version.

Not all libertarians are against immigration laws.

Also, property rights when fully recognized entail that people cannot enter the private lands of citizens into a country without the use of force and some kind of an arranged process to admit or deny entry, especially if the citizens know that these people mean to harm the country.

I think the constant attack on libertarianism is misguided. That's not to say that its major flaw is not recognizing how a moral/religious people is essential in maintaining a constitutional republic based on similar religious principles. But I would argue that this is a conflict that is sewed into the very nature of free will and of people living in a free society. That's why I believe that it is the job of the state to promote freedom and the job of the religious to bring the people back to God.

Another life lesson from the religion of peace.

A trio of well wishers were telling passersby “Merry Christmas” in Cologne, Germany, when they happened on a Muslim man accompanying two Muslim women. The man took offense at the greeting and proceeded to attack one of the men with a knife, stabbing him multiple times in the back and neck.
Considering the attack took place on Christmas Eve, the Muslim man was probably out searching for a patsy, looking to be offended just enough so that he could carry out his cowardly attack and then claim himself as a victim of “Islamophobia”.

You have this out of context TX, Those are "Peaceful Muslims". Yeah right, That group doing the stoning needs to be delt with....:machine:

It's a shame this happens in the US, but I suppose Christians are called to be hated, despised, and abused.

Part of me wishes I was there with a billy club so I could go to town on those animals, but I guess that's why I usually stay away from those types of events.
