Three years ago this was a stock, action, and a Kepplinger set trigger. I bought the parts out of Steve Sieboldt’s shop remnants. Eventually the fact that I had 19 factory rounds of 30-40 Krag and no rifle for them became too much to resist. Clay from Borchardt Rifle Company supplied the choked octagon barrel sized to fit the hogged out forearm. Curt Hardcastle put the barrel into the action, chambered it and eliminated the forearm hanger that causes so many issues for Ruger No. 1s. Curt also made the quarter rib scope mount. I dug up a 1960s vintage El Paso Weaver K-10 scope to ride in the steel Warne rings. Starline supplied the brass and Hornady Interbond 180 gr soft points were located in the pirates hoard. A load was taken directly from the Hornady Reloading manual for testing. At 100 yards two of us stacked bullets inside an inch on a 2” steel target. It took me a while to get this started but Clay and Curt were right on it. I couldn’t be happier.
