I get safety clear bi focals made ...and a pair of safety "sun" type glasses made....(some times? I get two years out of a prescription, other years? My eyes change enough to require a new scrip. What do y'all use if you have some? I have some magnified ones that work okay but I'm always switching between them and my regular glasses which means sometimes I forget.
Anyway, got any recommendations?
What brand/where did you get yours? With my everyday wear pair, I get everything, progressive/no line bifocal, auto darkening, no glare, and scratch resistant. I didn't realize just how much I've adapted to the no line bifocal, UNTIL I didn't put that into my work pair of safety glasses, HUGE mistake. They work ok for everything until I have to use the computer, it's in the mid distance and I can't see anything. My recommendation, get safety glasses with everything.
Sorry, I can't tell what brand they are, it's worn off. I got them at our local "My Eye Dr" here in Corsicana. It had been a very long since I had had to shop for safety glasses, I was very surprised at the selection. Fairly good looking metal frames, plastic frames, and more safety glasses looking frames (what a company would issue). I went as cheap as I could (hence, not getting the no line) and even with the measly $125 reimbursement, I was still close to $400 (including exam). What brand/where did you get yours?
Progressive lenses are not an issue at all for many people, but some do not like them.I have the same problem in that I need glasses. I have considered getting the progressive lenses for distance and close up. Is it hard to train your eyes to use those types of lenses? It just seems to me that it would be a headache to have to look certain ways to use them. I also want a pair for shooting when outside in the sun. I just tried out the new glass I got outside with my sunglasses (and maybe this is just because I am a noob lol) but it seemed difficult to get a clear picture because my sunglasses are reflecting off the glass in my scope. (I didn't mess with it for too long but it seemed to do that more so when I would increase the magnification.) I may have to don an eye patch for shooting too as my right eye seems to slightly squint when closing my left eye lol.
I am thinking if I get some prescription safety glasses with non-reflective lenses it will hopefully solve that problem (the reflection in my scope).
I will check out the Oakley's and see if I can find a decent pair. Although I would prefer something made in the USA.
Once you go to progressives, you'll never go back. Yes, your brain and eyes will develop the muscle memory, and you won't even realize you're adjusting yourself to see at whatever distance you're trying to look at. That said, there is NOT a fix all, once the eye sight starts to go, there'll be a distance(s) that aren't clear. Standard bifocal sucks, I got that on a pair of safety glasses (trying to save a little bit of money) and couldn't see the computer (worked fine for close up and far away, but mid distance was just a blur).
