I have an old SxS 20ga Newport CN. Bought at a gun show.

It needs some springs, it gives a too light strike on one barrel, causing occasional misfires. I figure a good cleaning could only help also, while it is apart. Can anyone here recommend a gunsmith? Also, about how much should I budget for this? Not expecting a quote, just a ballpark figure.

    Thank you.

Contact Alex at Dreadnaught Industries, he's south of SA off of 16; but you won't find a better gunsmith.

If you can't travel that far, then I'd suggest The Powderhorn although I don't have firsthand experience with them.

Wayne at Hoguns had a great gunsmith (Cris), but I think that shop's closed for good.

    Be advised,

Powderhorn does offer gun smithing services, however much of their work is sent out to a third party. My friend dropped his 226 off to get worked on and it was sent off. Quality repair at a reasonable price though.

Thanks PFChardin, I didn't not know that and I am not sure if I like it or not...

Luckily, I am willing to travel the 30+ miles from where I live to take any work I need to Alex at Dreadnaught; at least that way I know a competent gunsmith is doing the work!

    Cheers! M2
