KVUE News Austin police have charged a San Antonio man with theft and think he stole thousands of dollars worth of ammunition from Academy stores in several Texas cities.
Barrett Ulbrich, 32, is charged with theft.
According to his arrest affidavit, a manager at the Academy store on north Interstate 35 tried to stop Ulbrich after he set off a sensor while leaving the store last Thursday.
Ulbrich pulled the temporary license plate off his SUV and drove away, but a customer followed him and called police.
A search of his SUV turned up a business card from a storage company in San Antonio. A search of his storage unit turned up ammunition and fishing gear taken from stores in Conroe and Corpus Christi.
