    I was taking some pictures and the wind blew over my camera on the tripod. I was greeted with a number of cracks on what appeared to be the lens, but then I remembered that I always run UV filters on my equipment. Sure enough, it took the brunt of the fall and possibly saved my lens.

    Time to get a solid steel HMG tripod so that George Bush and his hurricane machine wouldn't even be able to blow your camera over! ;)

    When I used 35 MM cameras, I always used "Skylight" filters to protect the lens. It's like your UV filters but basic glass. It's real cheap insurance!
