I have a Siamese Mauser in 45-70 coming my way. It’s uniquely built. Reading about load data, it states for Ruger # 1 and Siamese Mauser actions only.

Why is a Mauser action considered one of the strongest 45-70 type actions? I knew they’re strong, didn’t realize they’re that strong.

Large ring mauser originally in 8mm.

Supposedly can handle the heavier 45 70 loads.

They are not all that strong.

    Who did the conversion?

The stock is custom out of walnut with a red type wood at the front with matching pummel on the pistol grip, white lines etch out the detail. Shaw barrel that’s heavy profiled. Has a front sight but, no rear.
One piece Leupold base with a cheap weaver on it. Has a match trigger. I may put a peep sight on it, it has factory screws on the side of the receiver. I guess that’s what they are for. Really well done.

Siamese Mauser was Japanese made, originally in 8x50R & later converted to 8x52R.
The action is on par with the Arisaka, which has a rep for being one of the strongest bolt actions made at that time.
The 45-70 conversions were very popular and safe.

Mauser's 2-lug bolt made it a quality benchmark, improved upon by 3-lug bolt (i.e. Eddystone 1917)
