I took off the FSP and installed a Yankee-Hill gasblock/flip-up sight, and was wondering how far off center it was. I was intending on spending the better part of tomorrow's range session adjust the windage, when I had an thought.

I just happened to have a .223 laser bore sighter, so I loaded it up, set my rear sight at 0, loosened the bolts on the gas block, and aimed the rifle at a wall about 20 feet away. I then proceeded to gently tap the front sight tower in the appropriate direction until the sight post was centered on the laser dot. Once that was accomplished, I tightened the bolts up on the gas block, and I was zeroed for windage. Now, any further windage adjustment will be for actual wind and not to compensate for a canted sight tower.

A Sort of associated question - should I blue-loctite those gas block bolts?

I do on the front sights of my Glocks when I switched them out. I dont see why it would hurt. It says 24 hrs curing time.

I made a mistake. Instead of going myself, I had my wife stop at Auto Zone on the way home from work to get me some blue loc-tite, and she came back with a $20 bottle of the stuff.

Sounds like a good wife to me. I bought a large bottle also, and now I have it whenever I need it.

As far as your front sight, you should shoot it before you Loc-Tite the bolts. The Bore sight may get it close, but you can't be sure how close until you test fire it.
