Well I read about this but I have never experienced it until Saturday two weeks ago.
My M1A1 Standard has begun to slam fire. I load five rounds in the magazine each time I shoot. The rifle will occassionally slam fire when the third round in a magazine is fired which results in the fourth round firing in unison. The fifth round has never fired as of yet. I recently switched to Federal's Large Rifle Match Grade primers for my .308 reloads. I feel this is probably the problem. I think the primer metal is too soft for military rifles. Too bad too because I bought the 1K count box of primers. If you have never experienced this with a .308 semi-auto rifle, you have missed something. A double firing sure increases the felt recoil and will make you say "what the **** just happened".
