Anyone here know of a landowner close in to Houston who has no objection to people using his land as an outdoor range. I have some old ammo I want to shoot up, and the shooting ranges won't let you fire hollow points etc. Plus being old school there's just something about "walking" soda cans and the like. Paper targets don't provide that instant gratification. I did it decades ago outside a smaller town where nobody gave a hoot, as long as you policed the area you were using. I'm afraid those days may be gone.

Welcome! There are some advantages to living out in the nothingness of West Texas.

Thanks for the welcome. I may be barking up a dead tree with my hunt.

I can't help with a landowner option, sorry. There are many on this Forum that I'm sure would love to do that, including myself.

What ranges which you have been to in Houston have told you not to use HP ammo?

Memorial Shooting Range (now closed) told me ONLY full metal jacket brass cased shells, no exceptions. Can't remember the name, but one off 1960 in the Champions area. Also one on 59 North. None allowed anything but FMJ. Matter of safety they said.

There are deer leases, there needs to be shooting leases. No deer required. I'm in the same boat. You can't even rapid fire at most ranges and the ones that let you shoot full auto are typically too expensive or watch over you like a hawk. Plus I just like to shoot in peace.
