How can we make sure it'll survive and protect the contents when it's buried in seasonal, central Texas mud?

Large diameter PVC tube with cemented or plastic welded end caps. Would eliminate any interchange between the environment and the contents for at least four or five generations.... after that, you’ll no longer be on the scene anyway!

Wait! You're in CA & you have firearms AND you're moving to TX?

There are many of us former California gun owners on this forum. :D

I shot my first gun using wax bullets in my grandfather's garage in Huntington Beach, CA in the early 90s. Believe it or not, there is a gun culture there and it's quite cantankerous!

I have just moved to The Metroplex from South Florida. After Kathrina we had no electricity for about five days and high temperatures and relative humidity mean that there is a lot of moisture in the air. I keep my guns well oiled and had no problems.

Oil as a preservative has worked for centuries.
