    Hi Gang,
I've been away for awhile. Among other things, my wife and I took our grandson on a vacation to Arizona. On the way out, we stopped overnight in Van Horn. There was no one else in the whole wing of our motel when we checked in. Later I went out to the car and found this:

Seems there was/is a task force of State Troopers working the area and all other rooms on our wing were occupied by them. That must have been the safest motel wing anywhere in the US that night. Any of our members in that group?

Sweet. You can be damn sure that there would be absolutely NO crime at that motel that night, and you certainly wouldn't have to worry about your car getting burglarized. Probably a convention in town or something.

I'm old, and have lived and travelled all over the U.S. and beyond, and I can honestly say that Texas State Troopers are by far the most professional and courteous LEO's I have ever come across bar none. Every single one I've ever come across or been stopped by too.

Probably qualifying as they have a shooting range around there. They have also beefed up Police because of the drug war going on down here.Cops are getting killed by the dozen everyday and they keep bringing them over to our side for medical help as they know they will get killed in the Mexico hospitals. It is getting crazier by the minute.

One time a friend and I stood around at a Whataburger at something like 1am on a Friday night talking to a State Trooper for something like 2 hours! ;) He was a really nice guy.

I agree. I had a chance to talk with one of the Troopers that Fri night at the motel and again the next week at a lunch counter on our return thru Van Horn. Both Troopers said the same thing regarding the task force in place. But it was a surprise to walk outside our motel room that night and see our car surrounded by nine State Trooper cars, plus more of their cars on another wing of the motel.
