A man accused of abducting and severely beating his ex-girlfriend has turned himself in to the US Marshal's Task Force Saturday. 38 year old Tyrone Smith reportedly called a fugitive task force member and agreed to turn himself in at the Nueces County Jail. He's accused of abducting his 29 year old ex-girlfriend then beating her with a tire iron near the Citgo west plant entrance. Police say three refinery contract workers tried to intervene but Smith took off in one of their vehicles. Smith now faces charges of aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, and vehicle theft.
