My Rossi 92 came with a bad extractor, and the fit of the wood leaves a lot to be desired. They also drilled the hole for the tang sight in the wrong place, so I can't mount one on the gun.
I've had good luck with Rossis. I don't doubt their QC is pretty variable, tho... I installed a rear peep on my 92 where they put their silly bolt safety. Works nicely.

Out of the three "Taurus" products I own, the Rossi is the only one I would consider keeping unless something REALLY nice came along to replace it. Despite it's issues, it's still a pretty nice gun to play around with.

It could be that I have just been unlucky so far, but it is pretty disheartening to keep getting guns with issues from a brand I really tried to like in the beginning. I know there are good Taurus guns out there.

    Gunz are icky.
Taurus/Rossi are a no go for me.
Do own one Rossi gun tho. It's an old Overland SxS coachgun made back in the 1970's.
I keep it around for if I ever decide to go back into Cowboy Action Shooting I'll have a shottie.
I've never seen a Taurus made gun that actually got run hard that didn't fail bigly.
    No Thanks.

I bought into Taurus once I purchased a Taurus P22 because just about all the writing in the gun porn books said how great it was and ate almost every type of ammo. Wrong it was a very fussy in what ammo you fed it, and did not run without jamming ftf, fte, and stove piping on high speed rounds like CCI mini mag, velocitor etc. It is my grandkids favorite gun to shoot with regular 22 ammo because it is so light and not much recoil. It works well with a regular 22 bullet and is pretty accurate. Damn I don't think I would bet my life on a Taurus. I know no one that carries one even when I lived in MO. Just check on what the gun likes to shoot and use that.

We've had a Raging Judge for 8 years? iirc.

Never had a problem with it so far, and it's had a lot- probably more than a thousand- of 454 casull rounds through it.
Lockup is still tight, and it feels and shoots good.

45 colt rounds are powder puffs in it.

EDC? Hell no. Way too big. Way too heavy. Were I ever to go to Alaska would I trust it for a back country gun? This one, absolutely.... other examples, no idea.

I have owned various Taurus pistols since the mid 1980's. from revolvers to semi-auto pistols. I have shot more than my fair share of them over the years.

I have owned and shot just about every make, brand and types of pistols as well over the years.

And my conclusions are this. EVERY one of them has a failure from time to time. It happens, even to the best of brands, regardless of who much they cost. Slip-ups happen, and get past QC and end up in the hands of consumers. It happens.

QC is suppose to be the final inspection of a product to make sure it's acceptable for sale to the consumer. But imagine, checking and inspecting thousands and thousands of a product every day. I'm pretty sure that some slip through the cracks at some point. It happens.

My friend bought two Judges for rattle snake duty on his ranch, Neither Judge pattered worth a hoot. My friend ended up with two 1911s with snake shot and is very pleased. He even carries a mag of SD ammo for two legged snakes.
I found the same. My Judge lives in the safe now and I carry my 629 with snake shot instead. You could shoot a 00 buck round from my Judge at a person at 21 feet and miss with all the pellets.

As a general observance I have made over the years of watching people shoot, generally when they can't hit the broad side of a barn, they usually blame the gun!

Not in this case, there is a reason why shotguns do not have rifling, and that is because you get a pattern shaped like a donut after a few yards

I am fully aware of what the Judge is, with having a rifled, rather than a smoothbore barrel. My brother and I have done quite a bit of testing with his to determine the best ammo for home defense.

I have heard all the so-called "experts" over the years spout off about how ineffective a 410 is for home defense, and all their nonsense of what is the "best" to have and use. It usually ends with them saying a 12 gauge and buckshot, about 99% of the time!

Horse pucky! In all the years I have challenged these so-called "experts", not one of them has yet volunteered to take a round of 410, or birdshot from any gun! Hmmmm....My conclusion? They know they are spouting nonsense and don't have a clue as to what they are talking about. And to the uninformed, or those new to guns, they may seem like some sort of expert on guns and ammo. Frankly, my own informal testing over the years, has proven the vast majority of them to be full of bull shit.

And I have always stipulated that there are better alternatives than a 410, or birdshot from any shotgun, but at close ranges, like those within the home, they can kill just a deadly as other sizes or ammo. They may not be the best choice, or even the optimum choice, but that can and have killed people before.

My personal experience with a Taurus Judge.
6” Model shooting 2 3/4” #6 at a rabbit that was about 5 yards away. Body hit left fur and some blood. Blood and fur trail ended about 25 yards from where I shot it. No rabbit. I hope a fox or bobcat was able to finish it off quickly.

Pretty much a worthless pistol that had the most awesome advertisement campaign in the history of handguns.

In all fairness, we never even tested or shot any birdshot, so I can't attest to how well it does, or doesn't do with birdshot.

He bought the Judge for "in your face" range of home defensive purposes.

Buckshot in wet newspaper only got about 6-7 inches of penetration. Slugs did better as did 45 colt, but not that much better

My wife and I stayed in Quartzsite AZ for a few winters. I watched a vid where a guy had a full sized Judge with a 6" barrel and couldn't kill a rattler with birdshot (I don't know the size of that shot) at 7'. I really don't want to get 3' from a diamondback. So I chose not to use one for that purpose.

However, I did buy a PD and use it as a nightstand gun with 3" PDX1 loads in it. I've shot those at watermelon, and believe me at doorway distance they pattern just fine. I would NOT want to get hit by those copper discs and pellets even if they don't penetrate more than 6-7"!!!

I've never shot .45LC in it so I don't know, but I would not EDC with it because it is a short distance weapon (we used to call those "in his ear" guns) and it is much to heavy for my likes.

Of all the .410 pistols, only the PD with short barrel throws a shot pattern that is NOT a doughnut! Mainly because the rifling is not much! All the longer barrels will throw a hollow pattern, the longer the barrel the WORSE the pattern.
