Right. Juneau, the younger and most obnoxious. (still a puppy)

Center. Marley the diabetic alert pooch, also know as Hook and ladder for her ability to snatch things off the kitchen counter even with those stubby legs.

    Left. Magellan, my traveling companion.

I have one old female cat who is indoor outdoor, i dont think shes ever killed anything, maybe a rat i found decapitated once, she didnt even eat it. she definitely has never killed a bird or snake, nothing else besides maybe a bug. my other cat is indoor only (family rules not me) but goes in a screen porch. he has only ever killed bugs. yet we have pet finches and he knows theyre pets and not to be hurt. cats arent instinct driven killers when living with humans, they have discernment and understand life within our context ie yes theyre birds om nom nom but my ape friend here likes them so ill let them live. if they did not conceptually map their realities, they would never be able to co exist with a pet of another species, they would blindly kill every time. cats have a great subtle sensitivity to things, they can understand a lot. i see my boy cat always eagerly observing things like utterly thrilled to try and analyze and understand them each time. i think crows do this too, like a crow will have its interest piqued just watching you try to figure somrthing out, because the crow is familiar with that, unlike, say, a fuckin deer standing there like moo duhhh. im pretty sure crows have higher iq than humans and take pity on us. they see us like cats, they would pull our tails to incite fights if they could.
