    When: 01-30-2011

    At: Cedar Ridge Range

    Cost: $25

    Time: Set-up at 0800; sign-up at 0900; end time 1330 or later

Bird shot for shotgun is nothing larger than #6 shot. Bring a minimum 100 rounds each for handgun, rifle and shotgun just in case you have to do any re-shoots. Bring at least 3 mags for handgun and rifle and of course your shotgun if it takes magazines. Also bring a sling for rifle and possibly the shotgun as well as a handgun holster. No need to dress "tactically", jeans and a shirt are good to go.

No fee for spectators but they will need eye and ear protection.

If you don't have a shotgun or rifle show up with .223/5.56 ammo and 2 3/4" shells, #6 shot or smaller!!!!, and see if anyone will let you shoot their firearms.

Any more questions just ask. I spend more time on AR15.com than here but will try and make it back here at least once or twice a day.

It all depends on what bay you are in but generally nothing farther than 25yds for rifle, unless I can sneak a target or two out further without Mike(the guy who runs the match) noticing. Shotgun is 15yds max.

This is a CQB type 3-gun event.

Ok, just wondering what the rifle should be sighted in for.. I wanna do the IDPA shoot on Sat, so I may try and make it down to Cedar on Sun... Are these not put on as often? Looking at the calendar it looks like the only one over the next 3 months...

Mike only puts on 3-gun matches on months that have 5 weekends in them. Whenever Mike gets a better trailer for the cedar ridge range we will have 3 gun matches at the Austin rifle club. Right now the trailer at Cedar ridge isn't suitable to make the travel from San Antonio to Austin.

I'm going to try and make this.

7.62x39mm OK to use, too? Just out of curiosity (not going to do it), what about 7.62x51mm?

Oh, and how many mags would you suggest for a single-stack pistol? And what kind of sling? All I've got is a single-point right now for transitions.

7.62x39 and 7.62x51 are good to go. Basically anything not larger than .50 is good to go.

Bring at least 5 pistol mags if you have a single stack. Single point sling is good to go. You want a sling you can do transitions without your rifle or shotgun getting in the way of shooting your pistol/handgun.

    Good to know!

Unfortunately, I have other plans this weekend and I won't make it after all. I was trying to rearrange, but it's not going to happen. I'll have to hit a carbine shoot next month instead.

I'll probably sneak out to a 3-gun match sometime, I will need a rifle of some sort, all I have are precision guns and a 10/22.

Dude, let me know when and if I can make it you can borrow my M4. I've even got enough mags for us both, but pouches are your problem.
