    Morning all,
I've been trying learn more about what would be considered "classic" rimfire rifles and pistols. The kind of stuff you grew up wantingthat you should be looking for in the used bins in shops, or just to know about. What makes your classics list? I didn't grow up shooting and wouldn't know what to look for, but am seeing things like Marlin Model 60 and 39, Remington 540x, Winchester 52, things like that. Price or current worth is not an issue, I'm just trying to learn about what's out there. Rifle or pistol is welcome, too.

Look for Colt Scouts. They came in a lot of barrel lengths and finishes, up to and including buntlines. They were replaced by the New Frontier, but I like the old ones better. They were all the rage during the Western TV show era of the 60's-70's

My father owned a Browning Grade 1 but it was stolen when our house was broken into. Loved that little rifle when I was a kid. They're selling them again...

stevens....something. Semi auto. Tube mag(under barrel). I don't remember what model. We used it to kill cattle. Pin them up, bam, one round to the brain. 500LBS+ hit the ground like it had been thrown.

The other was a Remington 241. 22short. That was Grandpa's gun. It stayed on the wall. It was one of most the badass 22's ever made. Now Browning sells them. My dad would tell stories about how many deer that rifle had killed.

I grew up with a Ithaca Model 49, Remington Nylon 66 and a Ruger Single Six .22 & .22 Mag cylinders. On Satruday mornings, there was not a small animal that was safe until I went in for dinner.

My classic .22 is a Mossberg 352, if anyone remembers them, they had a plastic folding forerip.

This one isn't mine, just a random internet pic.

A "kit gun" is one built on a small frame, easily carried in your "kit", for example, in a tackle box. The K22 is a full-size revolver, and is not a kit gun.

Thank you sir. Now I have to do some research because that only brings up more questions.

The 22/32 Kit gun is a model 34 built on S&W's small "J" frame. It is a six shot revolver with adjustable sights. It's a sweet shooting little pistol but in no way compares to the Model 17 "K" frame K-22. In my view, they are both classics!
