Definitely one of my favorite scenes of any movie. The music that accompanies this scene is called The Trio. Sergio Leone was a master of film making, and as time goes on he's becoming more and more appreciated. Without further delay....

    Great film.

I take it you've seen Akira Kurasawa's Sanjuro and Yojimbo?

The Man With No Name is based on Toshiro Mifune's classic samurai role in Kurasawa's films.

Watched this movie with my son and had to remind him everytime a cliche' scene, line, or gun fight came into view that this was the original scene, lines, gun fights and that all westerns made after it were copied from. Even my son got into the music throughout the film.

Is this the same director that did the original samurai movie that the Magnificant Seven was based on? I can't remember the film, I think it was titled The Seven Samurai. It was in black and white. Having enjoyed the Magnicant Seven with Yule Brenner for so many years I looked forward to renting this movie. I had even heard that Liam Nessom had used the original version to copy his sword techniques for Rob Roy and Star Wars. I was obviously expecting too much. I watched the Samurai original and found it boring and lacking in any real sword fighting (at least any you could see). So disappointing....

Yes, Akira Kurasawa's Seven Samurai is what The Magnificent Seven is based on. Actually the whole spaghetti western craze was started based on his old black and white samurai flicks.

@MR R - Japanese, buddy. Not Russian. Toshiro Mifune was a badass mofo in those films.
