    WOW what an honor, i actually got to shake Ted "Dutch" Van Kirk's hand today at the Dallas Gun Show. he was the navigator on BOTH of the missions over Hiroshima and Nagaski. he's the last one of the 12 man crew still alive.......:patriot:

    I was lucky enough to have Col. Paul Tibbets autograph his book for me at an airshow I was in a while back. Also quite the honor !

    i actually got to talk with him for 5 min's even with the crowd. i made his wife laugh. just after I thanked him for everything he'd done and all I said "Well it looks like your old plane may still need to fly another couple of missions". and his wife burst out with a quick laugh!! she understood immediately what i meant!!:patriot: its a shame "His" kind are almost gone!! that was an era of military men this country WILL NEVER SEE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

    The name painted on the aircraft after the mission is a pun on "boxcar" after the name of its aircraft commander, Captain Frederick C. Bock.

    The name of the bomb was " Fat Man ".
