We are poor so we pray for prosperity and the Lord sends us oil. We are parched so we pray for rain and the good Lord sends us rain.

I don't know how we're going to pray our way out of this one.

Oil Companies Lose Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars From Heavy Rain Fall - CBS 7: News

A buddy sent me these pics. Says they were shot between Pecos and Orla. The rig you see was in the midst of being moved when a levee on the Pecos River broke.

You ever think you'd see a Game Warden boat running across the desert?

Went to Van Horn last weekend I didn't see these pictures but man I believe it! The Pecos river was definitely overflowing and a lot of the section roads were under water just west of Pecos. Tried to visit Carlsbad Caverns on Sunday but they were closed due to flash floods.

My regular shortcut to down town Pecos (the Barstow highway) is shut down at the four way in Barstow.

Only way in or out of Pecos right now from the east is I-20 and when I was through there yesterday evening the water was about a foot and a half below the Interstate roadway and expected to rise significantly. They're having a hard time with their flood stage estimates because it won't stop raining. It's raining here in the basin right now.

Well, it was till I typed that LOL

Can also get in from the Fort Stockton highway.

Got a buddy who lives alone out on the WT Ranch where a lot of these pics have been taken that I have not been able to get ahold of.

    Stukaman just responded. He's OK.

Also, buddy on the WT Ranch is accounted for and fine. He said the water there crested at some point during the night Thursday.

    Thanks for the updates.

Glad your friend is accounted for.
Not a lot of "high ground" out there.

And the Lord giveth once again.

I don't think I've seen very many days out here as perfect as it is today.

Sunny, some puffy clouds reminiscent of a Simpsons intro, 77 degrees...

It will be either 100+, or 30 with a -20 windchill, degrees out here tomorrow but today is good.

    I am thankful for today.

EDIT: Just realized that last line makes me sound like I'm giving testimony to a group of recovering alcoholics LOL.

Glad to say I am 16 hours sober LOL.

I'll be experiencing a relapse in a couple of hours though.

    I blame Bush.
