Howdy folks. My last ar15 build, I built in .300 blk. I have a direct impingement system, and I'm wanting to convert it to a piston driven system. Never done a piston build before. Could I have some advise, parts, places to save some money? Any knowledge would be appreciated.

    Nice looking shootin' iron!

Might want to check this link out.

Looks like Primary Arms has piston uppers and Adams Arms has conversions. Some folks have cycling issues with the 300BLK when converted to piston and some don't. Some folks had to open up the gas port for the piston to cycle.
Are you going to run suppressed? If so, the piston is not as quiet.
You will have increased weight with the piston. Not a big deal if you're doing a morning range trip on a bench but if you're doing an all day hunt stalking it can be a b##ch.
You will have a cleaner cooler running receiver/BCG with the piston.
Personal opinion....pistons are best suited for SBR's and/or continual rapid fire shooting. If your happy with your gun as DI, I wouldn't convert it.
