14.5" upper. 5.56 with carbine gas system. Aero precision. What do you think?
They have mid length as well
Also, have any ideas for a good brake/flash hider that'll be pinned for 16"?

They started as an airplane parts manufacturer so I'd hope so! My lower is made by them

If you have to meet the 16" length requirements, why not just go with 16"?

Or do a Form 1 SBR and skip the pinned flash hider...

    Agreed.
What would you gain besides noise and unburned powder?
Loss of velocity could be seen as a plus in limited situations, I guess.

    I recommend mid-length gas.

My current favorite 3Gun rifle has a 13 5/8 barrel, mid gas, and a F2 compensator welded on. Makes the gun have a 16 1/8" barrel, instead of the normal 19" +/- using a 16" barrel and a 3" compensator. A little faster to swing, a little shorter in tight ports, and still enough velocity to make 600 yard shots. Loud, though, but you can't have everything.

    Aero makes nice stuff, cheap.

My AR10 is aero upper, lower and handguard. And soon there ambidextrous charging handle.

Basically 97% of my AR10 is/will be aero precision parts. They do good by me

I agree also. A couple inches of barrel isn't going to change maneuverability much and you lose the ability to change muzzle devices.

I have never understood the desire for a little shorter barrel with a fixed muzzle device. The competition gun kind of makes sense but not beyond the 3" compensator aspect.
