Paid for my first NFA item this afternoon, ATF paperwork goes in the mail tomorrow.

    Got the Thunderbeast 30P-1.

I got to test fire one of these back before Christmas, and it is really quiet. Heard one today on a 300 blackout, and I swear I have a pellet gun that is louder.

Thanks Houston Armory, you guys rock!!!!

Sean, it really is a nice can. It's in Bill's safe if you want to see it...i paid for it this afternoon.
As long as there's no issues with the paperwork, all should be good in the next 60 days.

I got it in last night, can't wait to try it out in the AM.

Damn, I'm going to have to medicate to get any sleep tonight...

    You got it!
I'm going to try to snag a bit of footage with either my phone or digital camera.

No camcorder available, so I will have to make due. I've got a buddy that wants me to call him and let him hear it over the phone, lol. I don't know how well that's going to work out but it's worth a shot.

Ok, so I got my 30P-1 good and warm this morning...
I checked my zero first thing by shooting 10 rounds unsuppressed. I spun the can on, and had to dial down 15 clicks to get a bullseye.

    so to answer TX1911's questions:
POI- I was hitting 6.375" high at 100 yds
    Groups got tighter.
    Sound control was impressive.
Recoil was perceived to be less than with just the brake...and the brake is pretty damn efficient when compared to non-braked. (AAC 18T Brake)
Ripping off 10 rounds on this hot clear morning did start to introduce some mirage, but it was just barely there.

To recap, the rifle being used is an Underground Skunkworks Infidel with an 18"bbl, chambered in .308 Win. and a SS 10x42HD Scope. 168gr FGMM was the test fodder this morning. After all the wait and buildup it seems almost boring to spend so much and make so little noise, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it again in a heart beat!

Now, to find an adapter that will let me attach this can to my AR!!!

    Nice.

    My Thunderbeast just arrived!

Glad I do not have to wait for paperwork to use it!

You won't be disappointed. I absolutely love mine. It made an already accurate rifle shoot even better.

Did you go the NFA trust or CLEO route? I am looking for a can for my bolt rifle(s) and I'm leaning towards the NFA Trust route (as it will probably not be my last).

I had Sean Cody do my trust, and my wait times were 50 - 60 days on both of my cans. I kinda lucked out on the examiners but trusts are faster.
