Patton. In another time he would have been a Cesar. My Limey friend and I discussed Patton and Monty over many a beer. He felt Hollywood treated Monty unfairly as a pompous ass, and buffoon. He also could not understand how such a self-glorifying showoff and cowboy could be so lionized. We spend hours, over many beers on this subject, battle tactics to slapping privates.

When it came time to shut him down I would let him know that his line of thinking is why we kicked this Empire out of our country.

His reputation was based on North Africa. He never duplicated that feat. He was pompous but had the ear of the king.
