They are great for plinking and competition. They are not as durable as the RMR. If it will see hard use or potentially dropped, racked off something, etc., I would go for the rmr or rmr hd.

Me being a fat old guy I doubt it will see hard use or abuse. I'm thinking the larger screen would be better on old eyes the tear constantly. The top battery is a big plus. The 2 night vision setting are a plus. The set up is more of a fun gun deal.

The only way it might see hard use is on Hamass armadillos or a Gizzsbulla grinners invading the yard at night.

Not trying to talk you out of the SRO but have you looked at the Leupold Delta Point Pro's? I have a couple of them and they have a pretty big screen and my save a few dollars. It comes with and without a night vision setting.

Also glad to know that I am not the only old guy with watery eyes.

Dry Eye Disease sucks. When I sleep my eyes eye bugger shut, so when I get up I have to break them open.

As far a Leupold goes I have given them enough of my hard earned cash. I think I'll stick with Trijicon on this venture. And if I don't like it it will get slapped on one of my ACOG's. I figure Trijicon warranty will cover anything if I break it.

They're not RMR durable, but lots of guys have been beating the crap out of them in duty use and heavy training class uses. They do have a tendency to go down around the 10k round mark. 10k rounds is a lot to ask of any optic, honestly. Trijicon has not denied a warranty claim from anyone I've read or watched that uses the SRO yet.

    Big windows are nice.

You won't be disppointed if you go SRO, especially for how you intend to use it.

Strike industries and a few others make covers for the SRO.
