This is about avoiding oak wilt and the manner in which has become and epidemic. 15 years ago it was found in various geographic regions in clusters. Now it's spread out those clusters and can be found throughooit texas in regions with oaks.
We've had hispanics knocking on the doors on my street and throughout my community offering tree trimming and pruning and have seen quite a bit of residential tree work in our nrighborhood and surriunding areas by these crews. Most had the same MO, a couple hispanic guys with a pickup truck, ladders, and chainsaws. I was curious about hoiw they operated and have watched a few projects and visited property's they'd worked on previously. The vast majority of the trees pruned were oaks.
Two things I saw with regularity are a serious problem and is rarely if ever done when pruning Oaks. And oaks in close proximity will have interconnected root systems. Prune a tree that geets infected with oak wilt the adjacent tree will be infected through the root systems

- Not sealing cuts with pruning sealer. (sealer, not paint)
- Not sterilizing cutting tools; chainsaw blades, hand saws, etc.
