The Supreme Court is set to rule Monday June 28th on Chicago v. McDonald. The outcome will be best if they overturn the Slaughter-House ruling. If so we could see the tide of our freedoms and rights that have being taken away reversed back to where our founding fathers intended.

My feeling is they'll not touch Slaughter-House and bypass privileges and immunities though all together leaving too much power in local and state law to erode the 2nd Amendment.

Cities and States like Chicago will then heap on requirements that make it costly and time-consuming to own a firearm.

The 2a is upheld. Great and historic news.

Practically the fate of gun ownership is probably already determined by applying Heller's reasoning to it. It's good news, even historic. Just not as good as it possibly could be if the court had struck down Slaughter-House or defined a level of scrutiny.

I could be wrong though as I've not read it all the way.. but I've not found a level of scrutiny.

5 to 4. It went right down ideological lines as I know it would.

If you can, read Scalia's Opinion of Steven's dissenting. (Scalia concurring) He takes that sorry liberal to task.
