    Another point of the whole "warning shot" line of thought, is a matter of confidence. Have the confidence in your abilities and response. If a person feels they need to fire a warning shot, they are likely lacking confidence in one area or another. Whether it be a lack of confidence in their abilities, marksmanship fundamentals, not having a good grasp of ballistic wounding factors and what to expect or what have you, it's a lack of confidence. If you have confidence enough to respond aggressively (when appropriate), try to break the other guy's OODA loop, etc. then it might not even be necessary to fire a shot. As the saying goes, look like meat and you're going to get eaten. People are sometimes timid, lacking confidence, and basically using a hammer for every situation, when maybe the situation calls for a screwdriver or some duct tape.
