Now, THAT is a loaded question. Is your interest in long or hand guns? Lever, slide, bolt, single shot, semi's, wheelguns, modern, antique?

Most of the time, you'll find your collection evolving. I started wheels, then semi's, back to wheels, then back to semi's (handguns). Rifles - single shot (they were cheap!), semi's, bolts. Calibers - oh, sheesh - let's not EVEN go there!<G>

Not loaded, I was asking YOU. Each person has there own preference, I obviously know what my own is. Most important to your personal collection, for your personal use (ie action, caliber). I hadn't thought that anyone would list 10 revolvers, or 10 species of semi auto handguns. Just snowed in and bored. I was thinking more along the lines of specific manufacture, model, or even year of production. Not the general 12 ga, .22, etc. and definately a "shooters" collection, antiques are nice to look at, but not for this particular question.

    I would go this route.

MSAR STG 556 E4 Holographic sight.
BCM AR-15 Flat Top 20" with a bipod and 2-7x scope
Sig 556 Pistol with holographic scope
    Sig P226
Kahr PM in the same cal as the sigs
    Remington 700p in 300mag with a 4-12x scope/bipod

Forgo the last 4 for high quality optics, abundant magazines, and an ammo stockpile.

    --.22 Pistol
--.22 Rifle- semi-auto if you're on a budget, because while bolts are fun (I've got a couple) and less expensive, you'll find that day where you just want to blast a whole bunch of .22 and end up wishing you had spent the extra on a semi-auto. Same goes for the pistol.

--9mm semi-auto- jack of all trades. Cheap enough to plink with, suitable for carry
--AR-15- perhaps the most versatile and customizable rifle out there- great bang for your buck. Again for economy, a .22 conversion kit can count as your semi-auto .22 rifle
--12ga Pump gun- almost fail proof, and inexpensive.
--.30 cal milsurp- Mosin Nagant, SKS, AK, Garand, etc. Spend as much or little as you like, and same for ammo. Allows you to reach out and touch stuff better than a .223.

What's that, six? I guess I don't need the whole safe full of guns...nope, I do.
