I'm not a fan of AO scopes.

I havent used it enough to say if I am or not. My previous 10/22 scopes were a variable Bushnell and a fixed Nikon. I liked both. Nikon variable may be my next 10/22 scope. Either that or a red dot.

Mueller has good glass and feels well built. 4-14x I believe and yes it has variable objective.

If looking for something for only hunting or more general I would go with a regular objective.

Three .22 rifles, three different applications so three different scopes.

10/22 with mostly Kidd parts has a Nikon 3-9 40 Pro Staff Rimfire.

Marlin 39A has a Leupold VX-1 2 - 7 x 28 mm Rimfire Riflescope. Pricey but it is a Leupold and it is about the largest sight I'd put on a lever gun. To me big scopes look out of place on levers.

10/22 plinker with a few upgrades wears a PA Micro Dot MD-06. A great little red dot.

Being a new owner of an AO scope...I know what you mean.

You will like the AO feature in time, I would not own a 22 scope without it, makes for more precision shooting.
The Mueller APV is an excellent choice, glass is better then some of my more expensive scopes.

Thats why I bought it without handling one. People who are really into 22 rifles seem to highly recommend it. I still need to get out and zero it.

Well my favorite is my Weaver T-36's, but I have two Mueller's that I am impressed with, good scopes for the money.

Thinking about a SWFA SS 16x or a FFP PSA 4-14, but I shoot pretty far with mine, and Im wanting to shoot out to 300 with it. Theres videos of .22LR hits at 500 yards

    Yep
I shoot 12gauge hulls at 100yards, and really small 5 shot groups at 50 so a torso target at 200-300 shouldn't be a huge deal I don't think. I already shoot a small dead stump at 200 or more in my grandpas hay field.

I'm not even done building my 10/22 yet.

Look on YouTube there's a bunch of 400-500 yard .22LR videos.
