So you have two groups, one gets the vaccine and one gets placebo. The people don't know which one they get. I think we can assume that since they don't know what they got that both groups would have the same number that lockout, wear a mask, etc. Then you need to wait until a certain number of them get Covid, I think they said 150 people. If 142 of the people got placebo and got Covid and 8 of the vaccine people got Covid they say 95% effective.
I think you are right about risk for doctors, nurses, etc. Wouldn't be good if they all came down with bad side effects. Politicians, who cares.
In the real old days they used prisoners for this kind of testing. Nowadays we just let them out.

I dont think thats quite how they do these type of tests. Because there wouldn't be a way to know people didnt get sick becaise the vaccine worked or if they simply were not exposed. Generally, they will test for an immune response i.e. the production of antibodies in sufficient quantities to afford protection, some time after the administration of the vaccine.

I am not opposed to taking the vaccine. Not much of it should be anything new other than the target. Still haven't filled out the paperwork so I can be in the first wave yet... still on the fence a bit.

I have never taken the flu vaccine and only had the flu once in decades.

I may have already had the virus, seeing how the majority of people have mild to no symptoms. I don't fear this virus. I am not vulnerable, neither is my family.

I will probably pass on the vaccine.

While this is very true as far as survival rate the only issue I've seen throughout this entire pandemic is when all these numbers rise (daily positive test) we start to see the hospitals beds filling up. I just wonder if we keep on this same trajectory how many more hospitalizations are we going to see? Reports are medical workers are stretched to the max. I can tell you from a 1st hand perspective it's affecting care for other issues. My sister and I are helping our mother who is in bad health with multiple issues and we're having issues getting her the care she needs due to all the attention of the medical field on treating covid while they try to keep covid away from those who are vulnerable.

Just the sheer overload on our medical system is my concern, not the mortality rate.

Blame it on the news and sensationalism. This is an overblown flu. My wife is a nurse at a hospital. The amount of people coming in because they thought they were going to die but end up staying for a day and getting sent home is crazy

We are being lied to by the msm because the overblown plague patient numbers are just another tool for them to help their leftist overlord/politicians to control the population.

I do remember "Field Hospitals' were set up in Houston for an overrun of plague patients that were never used and were ultimately dismantled.

Recall the hospital ship that went to nyc and not one patient went aboard?

There are stories of similar events where extraordinary efforts were made to accommodate plague patient overrun in various locales where it never occurred?

But, some of the gullible still buy the numbers being touted by the lying msm.
