    So I decided to detail strip my S&W 1911 and came up with this little guy when reassembling. For the life of me, I cant figure out where it goes! Any help? Thanks guys/gals!

    This is a WAG, but I bet its part of the Schwantz (SP?) firing pin block system. I seem to remember my Gunsite edition having a firing pin safety system.

    Nevermind....i'm just stupid, and blind :) Its plays a role with the grip safety and gets held in place by the hammer and sits flush with the frame, just to the right of it. It pops up when the grip safety is engaged.

    I'm really surprised that there isnt a S&W1911 exploded view picture somewhere on the net.

    I'm sticking to my pre-lock wheelgun from S&W, if that's the way they document their modern products.
