Has anyone tried to "chop" their XD Service/Tactical grip to the sub-copact length?
I never have. But if you look at bowietactical.com you can see some of their work. Personally i would do this to a glock and not an xd.
I would consider it if the work was done locally.
You might contact Dale Hunnicut as he's in Texas:
Judging by the examples of his work I got to look at and handle at the TGT/Shiloh range event just over a week ago, his work is excellent! I don't see anywhere on his website whether he actually chops frames down like you mentioned, however it's worth asking him at least. Judging by all of the other custom stuff he does, I wouldn't be surprised if he might be willing to do it. If not, Bowie Tactical has some of the best custom work like this out there.
there is a gunshop at anderson mill and 183 called heritage firearms that does some excellent work. Quite a few LE guys get their glocks chopped there.
i found this sight through the xd forum, XDtalk. check it out if u havent and do a search on grip chops. i should find lots!
