Since my daughter and son in law live in Vancouver, it might teach me something useful.

I have been doing research on Canadian gun control and I can tell you, Burglary is more prevalent in Canada than the states.

According to General Social Survey on Victimization 2004,2009 and 2014

The % of victimized household in the GSS were:
    2004: 2.5% B&E and 0.9% attempted B&E 3.4%
    2009: 2.7% B&E and 1.1% attempted B&E 3.8% (3.2%) is probably more accurate, maybe 3.1%

    2014: 1.7% B&E and 0.7% attempted B&E 2.4%

The ICVS has burglary for 2009 as Household Burglary as 2.9%.
I don’t consider the 3.8% statistic to be correct for 2009 as it would be quite a big drop from 3.8% in 2009 to 2.4% in 2014.

3.2% to 2.4% is more likely

The United States bjs victimization survey states that for 2004 for burglary was 2.1%,2009 was 2.1% and 1.6%

    on assaults

First column = % of victims of assaults as most serious violent victimization, excluding spousal violence. Second column is the same, but including spousal violence. Of note, since it includes only those who were not victim of a more serious offence (such as robbery or sexual assault), these numbers might slightly underestimate the actual % of victim of assault.

    GSS and My estimates

    2004: 3.0% / 4.2% 3.0% / 4.2%

    2009: 3.4% / 4.3% 3.2%/3.5%

    2014: 2.3% / 2.8% 2.3%/2.8%

major assaults were rising from 2003 to 2008, while minor assaults declined. Police recorded Spousal assaults show a decline, therefore it’s quite unfair to say that it was 4.2% in 2004 and 4.3% in 2009. So I had to push spousal assaults down to 3.7% or 3.5%

the International Victimization Survey 2009 states that assaults were 3.5% as a whole. So 3.5% to 2.8%

What about the gun control laws? Not sure how the two are related. Is there some sort of correlation?

then in 2015, the break and enter rate 3.6% in Canada because of Chilean tourists coming to Canada and breaking into households.

    So from 2.4% in 2014 to 3.6% in 2015.

    Not where you are
Wow a study to prove the obvious fact that an unarmed populace has a higher occurrence of crimes.

    Unfreaking believable

Who’d of thunk that such a thing was possible.

Yeah we know that a populace that is unable to defend itself against unwanted aggressions from others will suffer a higher rate of occurrence of said aggressions.

    Thanks

Canadians can defend themselves but gun control does produce a higher crime rate. The GSS has a 2019 survey which has not been released yet and I’m hoping that breaking and enter has gone down to previous levels.
