    Gunz are icky.
Everyone knows RIA makes the only 1911 worth owning.

My recent RIA experience has been a flop.
Purchased one of their 22mag XTS-22 1911's about a month ago.
Rear sight fell out of the dovetail on initial range trip.
Point of Impact was WAY off from point of aim anyway.
Currently waited on a backordered adjustable sight.
    Gun is deadlined until then.

No doubt 1911's are beautiful, but often, not always, but more often than not, don't go bang when they should...unless tweaked by a very skilled GS and then they still often remain persnickety......

Glocks, not beautiful, but more often dependable than any 1911.

    Believe it or don't.

    Uppa to u.

Each firearm is a unique case.
Each needs to have the snot run out of it before the quirks show up.
Recently I had a Glock 20 that just flat out would not run. Even after two thousand+ rounds of trying.
On the other hand I have a Glock 17 that is extremely reliable right out of the box. Still is after thousands of rounds.
Same with 1911's. Some run very well. Some will never run right.
Many instances of 1911 indigestion can be remedied by a simple magazine upgrade or extractor re-tensioning(which can be done easily by a non-gunsmith)

But, why should one need to do this to a new weapon to get it to run properly?
I hear these issues with 1911s fairly frequently.

Manufacturers stick the cheapest mag in the box to cut costs/max profits. I'm guessing they figure 1911 nuts will trash the factory mag anyway.
Same thing with the extractor. Cutting costs means no hand fitting/testing at the factory before it goes out.
Another issue is 1911 owners who wail about the problems but will not fix it themselves.
Many of the issues can be solved a simple tweak.
For example: A range bud has an older Colt 1911. It won't run. The problem is the extractor is not set properly. Take 3 minutes to remedy.
He flat refuses to take it apart and fix the issue because he is afraid he will damage his $2500 Colt. Never mind its a beat to shit 1960's gun with peeling nickle plating and non factory grips. It ain't no $2500 gun.

Yeah, the factory mags are trashed because that's the first thing to try when 1911s don't run.

    :green:

Oh, and I have 3 1911s, but the only reason they don't run is because I'm left handed.

There is no such thing as 'clickbait'.

No one forces anyone else to click on anything.

The decision to do so is solely up to you, period.

Unless of course, aliens or the devil made you click on it........whatever the title of 'it' is ya screwball.........

Yeah...no. Not often, not "more often than not", and there's generally no need for a "very skilled GS" to "tweak" them. But you go on telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.

    Zod,

"But you go on telling yourself that if it makes you feel better."

    Feeling a bit defensive?

Here's the 411: 1911's are beautiful, old undependable hunks of gun.

Not each and every one, just most.......

You could give me one, but I'd never, ever buy one except for a decorative piece of nostalgia.
