Hawaii is not that great. Seriously. What they do not show on TV is all the burned out cars littering the road ways and the feral chickens everywhere. Even in stores like Costco, where they we’re clucking at our feet while we ate at the food court. Oh, and the tent cities and ppl living out of their cars along the beaches. We went there just to check off another state from the list, but honestly we found more interesting things to do in Ohio, and at much cheaper prices than Hawaii.

Yep - natives have been priced out of housing to a point that many of them have migrated to the mainland US because its so much cheaper - rent, land prices, food costs, utilities, all cheaper than in Hawaii.

Then there's the crime (petty crime is pretty horrible) and drugs (which drives the petty crime, and most of the violent crime) which is everywhere.

Hawaii is a micro version of California.

Just went there myself. Wasn't all that impressed with it at all. Nothing like I expected it to be other than Pearl harbor.
