Each time it gets faster, for 1911 grips it could be 4-5 hrs, and revolver grips closer to 8 hrs. These weren't too bad, most of the ones I do have small inlays which eat up alot of time to get everything to fit perfectly.
Imo mesquite is the only way to go. Easy to find, great looking grain, and different looks depending on if you let it dry in the field or in a kiln. Next grips will be out of mesquite drift wood, just curious as to what it will look like.
Really, what self-respecting Texan doesn't drink whiskey? And by driftwood, I just meant busted up peices that have been "floating" around the pasture for decades.
The 1911 by itself, and the grips with inlays are older pictures I had taken by a crappy camera, while the revolver and the combo were taken with my iphone. Sad that the phone is better than my camera.
They just might, hard to think of what gun wouldn't look good with a little bit of mesquite. Right now I'm making display cases for them. Went to hobby lobby and got some mini trunk boxes, foam, and felt.
