It's an academic point. I bet you a case of beer the rifle in question is a semi auto, and the reporter is a moron.

LOL Well the reporter may be joining TGT as I have had a few conversations with her and she does not appear to be as many have painted her. I did ask about the AK47 and she sent me the info that was provided to her. My take on it was that this information she was working from was a police report done after they had the suspects in custody and the gun in their hands. To paraphrase it said " 7.62 x 39 consistent with an AK47".

Possibly some of you Houston area guys may be soon given the opportunity to assist another in learning about the proper use and care of handguns as well as providing valid information to educate a reporter. She seemed genuinely interested in learning to shoot.

Awesome. I'd kick in $5 just because the more media people who at least understand our side, the better.

AK47s aren't unlawful to possess, you just have to pay taxes on them and have them registered with the ATF. You also can't drive a car down the street unless you pay a tax and have it registered, and they're not "illegal." Yeah, yeah Texas blah/blah Defense to Prosecution blah/blah.

Come on TXI, you know this.

Yep, The penal code does not make it unlawful to posses semi-auto versions of the gun. Full autos are. Come on, you know this.

But as has been posted, seems the reporter is open to an education and THAT is a good thing. I think ANY reporter who has the crime beat should be required to attend a citizens academy.
