I have always believed we will find a political way to counter the socialists. They are winning. I don't know if our side is just too busy working and raising families to fight back and the left is so full of hate that they devote their whole lives to our demise or what the problem is. Are we just too dumb fat and happy? We keep this insane deficit spending, foreign investors will stop investing in our country and our fiat currency will collapse. Scares me that the same group leading us to ruin also wants to disarm us.

But I'm not just talking gun rights, but freedom in general. Too many gun guys ignore the other issues, don't vote or vote for the wrong side.

What's your plan if this whole house of cards comes tumbling down? I'm not talking about survivalist fantasies. I'm talking about where are you going to start over. Will states like Texas/Wyoming and other free states being able to resist the federal intrusion? Will they become like the mountain hideout in Atlas Shrugged where us like minded types will flock together and build an insular community?

I dont like feeling like this but looking at how rabid the left has become. The supreme court and how it could change in the next 4 years. How the left totally kicks our butts on the internet and social media...and on and on.

There are bright spots, impressive leaders. Will there be enough momentum to really lead change or will it only come after it all collapses and we have to start over?

So what's up? Hows it going to turn out (wipe of crystal ball and look at history)? What's your overall plan?

I see the geo-political construct called the United States of America as a ship - perhaps a 3 masted sailing ship (legislative, executive, judicial). In order for this ship of state to function as designed each mast's sails must be trimmed with a view to achieving equilibrium in unity of purpose, and maximum efficiency in order to proceed on a steady course consistent with the rudder setting. This ship rather has its sails in disarray, with the helm disconnected from the rudder in the midst of a stormy sea.

It may be that it is time for some of the crew to board another ship.

I feel like a USSR citizen in the early 80s. My military is involved all over the globe, country is going broke and is divided.
We could see similar seperation of states. History may indicate some outcomes for monetary and governmental issues.
The barter system and self sufficiency are the only certainties if TX. claims independence.

I didn't get politically involved till obama came on the scene and I'm pushing 60. Was apathetic like most out there. Now scared shitless about where our country is headed and yea have to one to blame but me. I live in DFW but have a self sufficient cabin in the mountains which is where I'm heading to as soon as my son finishes college. One thing I believe is both parties failed us but if the repubs dont get their act together we're screwed.

Something to consider is that it's only a matter of time before latinos are the majority in this country. Look at every government south of our border and you'll see our future.

My plan is to buy a big plot of land and become as self sufficient as possible.

Unfortunately I fear this is what the reality is: So long as we have internet, TV, smart phones, and countless other retarded little distractions in life, the majority of folks will not be willing to do much about it. Because if they did, it means those same things they love and count on for entertainment in life are at risk of being lost. And it will only be once they have nothing left to lose that they'll fight back. Maybe I'm wrong and society will make a big surprise and finally stand up to these bungholes in the Kremlin, errr White House, but right now I am not holding my breath. There are three "D"s that come to my mind about the majority of the population in this country as of late. Distracted, Divided, and Dumb (ignorant). It's pretty safe to say that the gubberment has had its hand in helping along all three, but it's all the individual's fault (past and present) to let it get this bad without saying "That is enough from you a-holes!"

I don't know what's going to happen in the future. I am praying that things can be turned around. Get back to a nation of morals, respect, and unity. But It's not looking to good right now. So make sure y'all have plenty of plan B's in the queue, who knows what we'll end up needing in the future.

The problem is, it won't just collapse like a building imploding. It will gradually change over time and become something completely different. They know if they try to change it too fast, there will be some kickback. They've been working on this for over a century and look how much has changed slowly over time.

Staying with my ship analogy - Old Noah spent considerable, time, energy, and resources building his Ark, and he was darn thankful that he had spent his time ship building when the flood arrived.

Just as some firearms manufacturers consider relocating to Texas, Texas is the logical location for the new "dry-dock" needed for refitting the "U.S.S. Constitutional Republic" that is no longer seaworthy due to decades of neglect, and abuse at the Washington, D.C. "shipyard".

    Ship analogy is interesting.

I'm not into any of the armed conflict fantasies out there. If you survive more than one or two gun battles you're doing good. Eventually you'll be overwhelmed by numbers, tactics, equipment or someone just getting the drop on you. That stuff is just fantasies and it would be really hellish.

As far as self sufficiency, if you have the means to acquire those resources that is very cool. We should live closer to that ideal anyway.

I'm interested in the polarization of America by geography. You want a whole bunch of socialism? Go to Cali or NY and enjoy. You want freedom and opportunity. Move to most mountain states. The South. Texas. I thought thats how the US was meant to be? Different stated were...different. I really hope to see more states and states increasingly resisting being controlled/dictated to/punished by Washington. I'm hoping that this goes beyond just gun laws (as in Wyoming) or Medicaid (as in Texas).

Also the right needs to get more aggressive in their message. Reach out to more groups, not changing the message but stop relying on old white guys to get elected.

I want it to change soon. The sooner we can pull out of this the less severe the outcome will be. Maybe the sequester is the start of something.

Winston Churchill liked to joke about the United States of America being the most dis-functional country on earth, until it was faced with disaster.

I pray we have men and women who will stand up for freedom, from every corner of this great land. I took an oath to defend the Constitution as did many before and after me.

I fear not when in the company of compatriots.

I'm not as worried about Texas lets face it, those looney leftists think colorado is prettier, and our beaches are dirty. No amount of clean up will get rid of the sargassum on our beaches. I look at it as natural liberal repellant.

I'm hoping there will be a last bastion of freedom to run to and support, like Texas, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, etc.

There are a lot of us old veterans (and a few younger ones, too) who still hold dear the oath we and they took when joining the military to "Protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign AND domestic." What we've been witnessing is nothing but an all out attack by DOMESTIC enemies ON the Constitution and on our civil rights. This country is headed for a cliff, and not just that media-frenzy bullshit of the "fiscal cliff debacle" from earlier, which will determine just how well we, as a country, will survive.....IF we can. Foreign countries own our debt, which increases astronomically on a daily basis, and if they call in that debt, THEY will own US..basically. There are several states, Texas among them, that do have the financial infrastructure making them more able to weather any "storms" the Ship of State may encounter. In the event of any financial collapse of the combined United States (courtesy of the tax-and-spend dipshits in Washington), those few states can expect to see an extreme amount of influx of population, that being people fleeing from economically and socially depressed areas and states. So, without any kind of financial plan, either private or public, those economically sound states could be financially overwhelmed by the influx of "refugees" from other financially bankrupt locales.
