I'm Frugal. (My Mother-in-Law says "cheap".)

I pay $60 per year for Mullvad.net VPN, download TV shows a season at a time, and watch them on my big TV using Kodi.tv running on an old computer with a USB remote control dongle.

No streaming. I was watching shows last night while the Internet & Electricity were down from thunder storms.
Where do you download the shows from? Or can you say?

A $40 outdoor antenna and 100' of coax and I now got a whooping 2 channels. Lol Antenna is on the table cuz of the rain & lighting so when I move it o/s, no telling how many channels I'll get. ;) The pictures are actually quite good, IMO.

I looked up Roku devices on YT, jeeeeeez why do they make so many!!??

Roku: All Roku TVs, Roku Smart Soundbar, Roku Ultra, Roku Ultra LT, Roku Streaming Stick+, Roku Streaming Stick+ HE, Roku Streaming Stick (3600x and newer models), Roku Express/Express+, Roku Premiere+, Roku Premiere, Roku 4, Roku 3 (4200x, 4230x), and Roku 2 (4210x)

I've got an indoor antenna, taped to the window pointing into the direction of the most TV towers, but they do make outdoor antennas...

Hey! I remember unplugging your antenna because it was lightning!

I have 5 Roku devices but the best is the Ultra. I can play digital media that I put on a USB stick and plug directly into the Ultra. It also is wifi and ethernet cable ready. Very nice unit.

Rokus are streaming devices for dummies.
And that’s why we use them LOL

Lately though, our newer TVs are Samsung and they have everything built-in.
It’s still somewhat glitchy and not solid like our Rokus.

My Samsung TV is great but they don't update the streaming companies as well as Roku does. Almost everything is on Roku and updated as needed automatically.

Back in the 90's I had a house antenna in my attic, I drew line's on the floor showing which direction to point it for some station's.

I just ended a relationship with Directv so that is out.

My only options are DISH or an internet service + Hulu or similar.

2 weeks w/o full service and researching the internet TV crap.

Internet service out here is garbage! 15Mbps with one company that has horrendous reviews @$30/mo and 30Mbps and $40/mo with another, guaranteed to go to $70/mo after 1 year; then add $72/mo for YT service.

DISH service installed today with a 2yr rate lock of $105/mo. I'm pissed they don't have MAVTV!

    Hang in there.
    Grants have been awarded.
You'll have as good as downtown Austin soon.
The local communication companies are working their asses off right now.

Fiber is just a few months away.

I heard that for several years from att in memphis. They finally installed fiber as I'm moving to Savannah.

We cut the cord and went with YouTube TV about two tears ago. Had DirectTV before that. I did use the original DirtectTV cable and attached it to an antenna in the attic for back should the Internet go down. YouTube TV and Hulu both have a week free trial. I made the mistake of signing up for both at the same time, I suggest you try one for a week then the other for a week.
