    Hello everyone.

Friend at work has a Norinco, just like mine, but his isn't as pretty...

Anyways...He wants a 30 Round Mag, that functions properly, anyone have a recommendation from PERSONAL experience, of one that functions flawlessly?

Chicom 20 round fixed mag. Never saw an aftermarket detachable that worked all the time unless it was a sks that takes ak mags.

You have to work on them, to make them work.
Filing, grinding, bending. Throw one away. Etc...

I've got quite a few that work very reliably.
None did so straight from the packaging.

    Helotes!
If your friend wants a SKS that can shoot AK mags, then tell him to find a SKS-M or -D. Otherwise, as recommended, tell him to get an AK.

Converting a regular SKS to run those duckbill magazines is a bad idea, plus there are 922r compliance issues that must be addressed.

I have a bubba'd Yugo 59/66 that is 922r-compliant, it's a fun rifle but to be honest it's a little embarrassing to be seen in public with it. It looks like a wanna-be Kalashnikov, and despite what some gun show "experts" may claim, it's actually worth less than a stock SKS.

Disagree. You can pick up an FEG AMD-63 for under $600. It's hard finding an SKS that isn't bubba'd or trashed for under $400.

I think you mean a FEG AMD-65, and if you can find me one under $600 (a real one, not that parts kit abomination) I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Try more like $700+, which is exactly double (2x) what a Yugo 59/66 SKS will run you these days ($350)...

Throw in another vote for "stick to the 10 round mag"

If he wants a rifle that has a detachable magazine, and other "evil" features, tell him to sell his sks and buy an ak/ar
